I have been off work for the past eight months, not all for RA. Today I saw my GP for another sick note which is now a fit note, from today. Maybe it's good maybe it's not so good. Anyway my GP has said that I can return to my job but only to do the admin part of my job. I'm a school cook supervisor and this is mostly very heavy physical work which I can't manage at the moment. My employers now need to work out if it is possible to accommadate me with this and if they can't then I don't go back to work at all yet. Glenys.

Hi Glenys,

I do wonder sometimes if this new fit note has been completely thought through. I agree that the old system needed revamping but I hope this new system does not make it more difficult for sufferers of illnesses like RA to get the time off when needed.

Hope you get things organised the way you need them to be!

Thanks for the replies. I'm not sure if the new fit notes are a good idea and wonder how they will work out. I have been in touch with work and they can't accommodate me being at work just to do the admin the main reason is because of the health and safety risk of me being in the kitchen environment. I hope I'm wrong but I can see people losing their jobs with this new system. At the end off the day with some illnesses you do need to rest and have the time of and working through it is a bad thing you'll just get more run down or getting joint damage when you need to rest that joint.RollEyes
